How it works
- Choose the cuisines you are in the mood for. Every meal category is on to start; dessert is off.
- Press Pick a meal. Dish names spin like a slot machine and stop on one. Not feeling it? Press Pick another. Dishes you just saw stay out of the draw for a while.
- When you have a winner, tap Find places nearby to search it on Google Maps, or share it with the people you are eating with.
Every result shows the dish in Korean with a romanized reading, so you can type it into a delivery app such as Baemin or Coupang Eats, search it on Naver Map, or simply show the screen to restaurant staff.
Where the list comes from
The 1,023 dishes were picked from what people in Korea actually search for on Naver, the country's biggest portal. The 756 most searched dishes form the default list; turn on Include less common dishes to add 267 more.
| Cuisine | Examples |
|---|---|
| Korean | 국밥 gukbap (rice soup), 김치찌개 kimchi stew, 삼겹살 grilled pork belly, 칼국수 knife-cut noodles |
| Street food | 떡볶이 tteokbokki, 만두 dumplings, 어묵탕 fish cake soup |
| Chinese | 짜장면 black bean noodles, 짬뽕 spicy seafood noodles, 마라탕 malatang |
| Japanese | 돈가스 pork cutlet, 라멘 ramen, 초밥 sushi |
| Western | pasta, pizza, burgers, steak |
| Asian | 쌀국수 pho, pad thai, bun cha |
Note that Korean-style Chinese food is its own thing: jjajangmyeon and jjamppong are classic delivery meals you will rarely find in China.
Popular dishes come up more often
A perfectly even draw keeps landing on obscure dishes, so more searched dishes get a slightly higher chance. The weighting is gentle, so you will not see gimbap every other spin.
