How GPA is calculated
Your grade point average is not a plain average — it is weighted by credit hours.
GPA = Σ(grade point × credits) ÷ total credits
For example, a 3-credit A+ (4.5) and a 2-credit B0 (3.0) give (4.5×3 + 3.0×2) ÷ 5 = 4.2. Courses worth more credits move your GPA more.
Scales: 4.5, 4.3, and 4.0
Schools differ, so three scales are supported.
- 4.5 scale: common at many Korean universities. A+ 4.5 / A0 4.0 / B+ 3.5 … no minus grades.
- 4.3 scale: for schools that use minus grades (A-, B-, …).
- 4.0 scale: the US style (A 4.0 / A- 3.7 / B+ 3.3 …), often required for applications abroad.
Changing the scale updates the available grades accordingly.
The 100-point estimate is a guide
The 100-point figure is a rough estimate: (GPA ÷ max × 100). Actual percentage grades use school-specific formulas and may differ from your transcript. For study-abroad or scholarship forms, check your school's official conversion.
