Shrink PDFs in your browser

Upload a PDF, choose a compression level, and download a smaller PDF with each page re-rendered. It shows exactly how much smaller it got. Files are never uploaded — everything happens in your browser.

Choosing a level

  • Strong: smallest size. For on-screen viewing or email attachments.
  • Balanced (default): a trade-off between size and quality, fine for most documents.
  • High quality: keeps quality and shrinks only a little. For printing.

Important to know

This tool compresses by re-rendering pages as images, so text in the result becomes a non-selectable, non-searchable image. That means:

  • It works best on scanned or image-heavy PDFs, where the size drops a lot.
  • For text-heavy documents, size shrinks but you can't copy the text, so keep the original if you need it.
  • An already-optimized PDF may not get smaller (the tool tells you when to keep the original).
